#GiveAllTheThings: SUM Mug and "Balancing Diabetes".

UPDATE:Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger... Happy reading and coffee-drinking to you, Brian Bosh!

Coffee. But probably some ice cream, too!

* * * * *

What you can win: A copy of the upcoming book "Balancing Diabetes: Conversations about finding happiness and living well", and a too-true "Coffee ≥ Insulin" coffee mug!

Made possible by: Kerri Sparling (www.sixuntilme.com)

Why you want this: I've read an advance copy of this book (spoiler: I'm quoted in it) and everything I had hoped Kerri would cover about living with diabetes, she just totally nailed - like she always does. You'll find anecdotes both from her and from many other people in our community about how they balance diabetes with everything else: relationships (siblings, friends, partners), exercise, devices, daily life, college, you name it.

I can't wait for this book to be released - you've created a wonderful thing here, Kerri!

Here's the more official blurb:
“When a person receives a diagnosis of diabetes, he or she starts a process of adjusting and making sense of the new normal living with a chronic disease. A large part of that adjustment is figuring out how to balance diabetes with all the intricacies of a life outside of diabetes care. In Balancing Diabetes, diabetes online community blogger Kerri Sparling compiles strategies used by people with diabetes and their caregivers to bring that elusive balance into their lives. Whether adult or child, type 1 or type 2, spouse or caregiver, male or female, people in the diabetes world will find themselves in this book and be inspired by the commonality of that continuing search for balance.”

To enter today's contest: Use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter today's contest. You can enter today's contest by leaving a comment on this blog post (required) telling me what beverage you plan to drink out of that mug. (Creativity encouraged.)

The winner will receive their mug and an advanced reader copy of the book, which is slated for public release in March 2014.

Rules: This contest ends tonight at midnight CST, and is open to U.S. residents only. #GiveAllTheThings contests are intended for people with diabetes (or their caregivers) only. Since the Rafflecopter widget requires you to share an email address, I'll be emailing the winner (as well as announcing them through an update on this post) on Wednesday - you'll need to respond to me by Friday evening (let's say 7:00 pm CST) with your shipping address in order to claim your prize. If I don't hear from you, I'll pick a new winner.

Good luck!

  2. Ummmm, I'm thinking COFFEE! Mmmm.

  3. Diet Mountain Dew is my beverage of choice. Drinking it out of a coffee mug always makes me feel more grown up (which is ridiculous since I'm an adult).

  4. Coke Zero. At least until Coke Freestyle machines are available for installing in my house....

  5. I plan to drink so much coffee out of that mug. Maybe some tea. I'll quite possibly be sharing the mug too. My six year old loves borrowing my mugs. So it might also be home to hot cocoa.

    ReplyDelete
  6. For now, I'll go with chocolate milk made with sugar-free chocolate syrup, but after I lose my tight restrictions on caffeine in 22ish weeks, that mug will contain ALL THE COFFEE.

  7. Coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. And maybe bourbon after my kids go to bed. Lots and lots of bourbon.

  8. Coffee. Coffee. More coffee. Occasionally herbal tea. But mostly coffee

  9. I would love to say something different but since having my babe, it's all coffee, all the time! Buuutt, I might have to spike it with alittle something, something!!!

  10. Coffee! Kona blend I got for Christmas, a pump of caramel, and heavy cream! I can't wait to read the book! So awesome

  11. What else would you drink out of a mug from Kerri, coffee of course. And perhaps champagne to celebrate the books release & on extra special occasions. :)

  12. Coffee! With cream and a splash of almond extract. Kerri's blog was one of the first I found right after my dx, and continues to be one of my favorites. Can't wait to read her book!

  13. Is there anything other than coffee???

    ReplyDelete
  14. I would have coffee with a packet of salted caramel cocoa in it. Although, I like a lot of the other ideas I'm reading here.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I would drink a salted carmel hot chocolate out of it. Not a big coffee fan, but I love schc!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hot chocolate all the way!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I found a recipe for low-carb peppermint mocha creamer, so that'd be pretty awesome to make a latte in that mug! Or a microwave mug cake! Yummmm.

  18. SOOOO coffee would be drunken out of my mug, with the occasional use for watering my pet cactus at college. I CANNOT wait for this book, its bound to be one of the best.

  19. Coffee. But probably some ice cream, too!

  20. A poor gal's latte - coffee with a splash of milk and sugar free vanilla syrup.

    Or - if I'm feeling spicy - add Bailey's.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Pumpkins Spice Decaf and Cinnamon Hazel Nut Coffee with Halff and half and Splenda, Yum!

    ReplyDelete

  23. Omg coffee, coffee, and more coffee! Not many sugar free breakfast beverages for me growing up, other than coffee!!! :-)

  24. I would drink a sugar free latte I make. Coffee, milk and sugar free vanilla syrup. Mix it up with a hand held frother.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sugar free hot chocolate with (and this is where it gets naughty) a drizzle of chocolate syrup on top of a squirt of whip cream...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Would have to go with my favorite of Cinnamon Roll coffee from my Keurig :)

  29. I think I will have to start drinking coffee if I get this mug... ha! But I will probably cozy up with some hot chocolate considering it's -9 degrees outside right now! :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. coffee is always lovely :)

  31. Definitely milk and Diet DP. I'm not a hot drink drinker, but that doesn't mean I'm not a mug-lover. Since I was a kid, I've always had emotional attachments to some of the mugs in the cabinet. Nothing extremely special, I just...liked them.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Honestly it will probably be coffee. But, I'm willing to get creative, so let's say watermelon punch!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Each and every morning I would fill it to (nearly) the rim with the wonderful wake up juice many people call coffee. It would be enhanced with various flavours of creamer, depending on my mood, and what's on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The mornings would bring coffee with vanilla carmel creamer - but in the evenings...a drink I created by adding a shot of peppermint schnappes to hot tea. Low carb treat that has little to no effect on my sugars (unless I go overboard and have too many!)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Homemade split pea soup. I love soup out of a mug! (portion control :-))

    ReplyDelete
  36. Coffee with homemade whipped cream on top!

    ReplyDelete
  37. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Tazo Passion tea for days! With the occasional addition of lemonade of course!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hot tea, hot cocoa, and of course, I would use it to eat some ice cream too!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Coffee!! I just got a Keurig for Christmas and I'm not sure how I ever lived without.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I will be drinking coffee with a tad of agave and a bit of mill to lighten it up. And if it is a really rough day, I'll add some 'syrup' (as Buddy the elf called it). And then I would refill refill refill to my little heart content.

    ReplyDelete
  42. If I'm low Apple juice if my by is high ice water and if everything is all good hot tea with truvia and non dairy creamer

    ReplyDelete
  43. I would be drinking coffee with coffee mate no sugar pumpkin spice latte creamer.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Relatively few sugar free breakfast refreshments for me growing up, other than coffee.... Buy Generic Viagra Online http://www.genericviagraus.net/
