Products: Three varieties of Timesulin insulin pen caps - I have nine, total, to give away!

Made possible by: Timesulin

Why you want this: Timesulin is a replacement cap for your insulin pen - the varieties I'm giving away will fit SoloStar, Kwikpen and Flexipen styles - that shows you how much time has elapsed since your last injection (or, rather, the last time you uncapped the pen. So don't be uncapping it all willy-nilly between injections.)

Here's where it gets even cooler: Timesulin is currently only available for sale to people in the EU and select countries around the world, which means that this is an exclusive US-first with this giveaway! The team tells me they are working hard to ensure that those of us using insulin pens in North America can get their hands on this device in the very near future. You can sign up to be alerted about their launch on this side of the pond by joining their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/timesulin) or signing up to receive their newsletter at www.timesulin.com.

I think this is such a good idea, and it makes me happy that I can give something away that can specifically benefit those of you who use MDI!

To enter today's contest: Leave a comment on this post telling me which style of insulin pen(s) you use. The reason I'm having you do that is that this gets a little tricky, as I have three of each of the three styles. I want to get the right caps to the right users, so I'll do my best to get the winners to match up to the products I have.

Anyhoo, leave your comment before 8:00pm CST tonight, and I'll update this post shortly after that with the winners!

Important note: The pens that Timesulin sent me can only be given away to winners in the U.S.

  1. Personally, I use Humalog KwikPen. My guess is that Lilly is likely to stop making their old, poorly-designed insulin pens in the future as sales of the KwikPen are rapidly surpassing the original. Anyway, I do think having these things can help remind patients whether they've dosed or not, and what time that happened. Incidentally, there is a rival to Timesulin from Ireland known as InsulCheck which will ship to the U.S. (since these products do not require FDA approval).

  3. Awesome to have MDI giveaways - we're not extinct yet! I use Flexpens (Novolog and Levemir) - but who knows, that might have to change with insurance. :-)

  4. I use the Lily Memoir insulin pen for my Humalog (which was since discontinued...luckily I have spares!) The memory of the last 16 doses, dates and times is invaluable to me - it allows me to operate like a pump user but without as much supply and expense. I hope another company comes out with a replacement. Pendiq is an advanced insulin pen on the market, but of course it is only available in EUROPE!

  6. NovoLog FlexPen. This could not have come at a better time! One TEEN daughter is on a pump break that is likely to become the standard management practice for her and this would be perfect!! fingers crossed.

  9. I use the Novolog flexpen on frequent pump vacations. What a handy contraption to have! Now instead of scratching my head to remember, an awesome timer would help to track those dmi!

  10. My husband and I both give our daughter her insulin injections. This would be helpful for keeping track of who gave the nightly Levemir (flex pen) dose. (We also use the Humalog Luxura HD but there's not an Timesulin for that.)

  15. I've tried 4 or 5 times to leave a comment from my phone & it hasn't worked. I just got home so I'm hoping this sneaks in under the wire, but if not I understand. I use Lantus SoloStar & Humalog KwikPen.

Thanks for doing all of this, Kim!!!
